Let’s all hope for good weather next Sunday, as it’s the day of the Manchester Half Marathon. There is still time to enter but places are strictly limited, so if you’re looking to compete you should book ASAP. The race village is at Emirates Old Trafford – AKA Lancashire County Cricket Club – and the circuit takes participants through Stretford, Sale and back again. You’ll be running on closed roads with virtually no climbs and five drink stations along the way. The organisers have teamed up with several local and national charities that you can run on behalf of. Some elite athletes will be taking part, all gunning for the top prizes, but it’s not just for pros: there will be a medal and a T-shirt for everyone who finishes, as long as it’s within the allowed four-hour window – well within the abilities of most runners, requiring an average jogging speed of less than 4mph. It’s too late to receive your race number by post, so you’ll have to pick it up the day before from Innside – part of the First Street development.
