Locally based yet internationally reaching burgeoning indie press Dostoyevsky Wannabe has gathered together some likeminded souls for the first-ever pop-up Manchester Independent Books And Arts Fair at Plant NOMA. The publishers of Republic of Consciousness Prize-shortlisted novel Gaudy Bauble by Isabel Waidner will, of course, be showcasing their own wares, including having soft launches of two new tomes: The Acts by Richard Barrett and Steve Hanson, plus Thom Cuell-edited short story and poetry anthology Dostoyevsky Wannabe Cities: Manchester. But they share their toys, and there will be plenty of other stalls to mooch around. From London-Manchester prose publisher Dodo Ink to Manchester-based arts collective Generic Greeting, taking in avant garde and experimental poetry reps of the North West if p then q, Knives Forks & Spoons and ZimZalla, think books, pamphlets and zines, T-shirts, cards and tapes. There will also be coffee, craft beer and, who knows, perhaps even an unscheduled reading or two.
