Another mainstay of the cultural calendar of recent years, it would take more than a few measly budget cuts to kill off Manchester Literature Festival, fighting to come back better than ever. This years star turns include the effervescent Helen Fielding (pictured), in discussion about the much-talked-about return of her 15-million-seller Bridget Jones (you might have heard of her), Booker prize winner Roddy Doyle mulling over his new novel The Guts, a specially comissioned Lemn Sissay piece about Martin Luther King featuring Manchester Camerata, and children’s literature megastar Jackie Kay reading from her book of poems, Cherry Red Road. The full programme isn’t yet full confirmed, but tickets available are already selling fast – don’t miss out.
