Manchester Literature Festival presents post-punk icon, artist, Slits guitarist and author, Viv Albertine, in conversation with Jeanette Winterson at the Dancehouse in May 2018. Albertine was one of the founding members of post punk band, The Slits. She’s worked in film and television, most notably taking a lead role in Joanna Hoggs’ intimate Exhibition (2013) alongside Tom Hiddleston in 2013. She’s an acclaimed writer too, following the publication of her debut memoir Clothes, Music, Boys in 2014, which took home the Book of the Year awards publications including The Sunday Times, Mojo, Rough Trade and NME and was shortlisted for the National Book Awards. At this newly announced event in May, Albertine will be discussing her new memoir, To Throw Away Unopened. The main Manchester Literature Festival takes place 5 – 21 October 2018 and the full programme will be announced in August 2018. For more arts and culture events in Manchester, click here.
