The Manchester Shakespeare Company will debut later this month with Desperate Measures. a black comedy rewrite of Shakespeare’s Measure to Measure, set in a complete totalitarian Manchester. The adaptation, set in the Independent City State of Mancia in the near future, follows lawyer Izzy Aguecheek as she fights to save her brother from the law. The new company is dedicated to producing contemporary versions of Shakespeare’s works, rewritten to be set in Manchester, and featuring actors and artists from around the area. Desperate Measures is directed by Gina T Frost and adapted by John Topliff and Hannah Ellis.
