Manchester Bike Month may be coming to an end but the two-wheeled fun doesn’t have to end here. Join the British Heart Foundation in September as they take on a 60-mile night ride to Blackpool – the northern alternative to rival the charity’s world-famous London to Brighton course. Kicking off from at Trafford Centre at midnight, the route heads from the hustle of the city towards the hills of Leigh and Chorley, before reaching the glow of the illuminations at the iconic seaside town and finishing beneath the mirror ball on Blackpool’s South Promenade. Here, a bus transfer service will also be operating from Blackpool to Manchester both before and after the ride, priced at £25 per person, so there’s no need to worry about getting back. That, or you could stay as the dawn breaks, enjoy a well-deserved massage at the finish line and celebrate your achievement with a proper breakfast along the seafront. Registration is available either individually or as a team, with additional pedal power helping to fund pioneering research to save lives through the charity’s Mending Broken Hearts Appeal.
Sat 28 – Sun 29 Sep, starts from Trafford Centre, M17 8AA, Tel: 0300 456 8355, 12am, £30, www.bhf.org.uk
