Following April’s Northern Vegan Festival, which was so successful people spent hours queueing round the block just to get in, Manchester will host its own vegan fair in November. Taking place at Central Methodist Hall, at the Piccadilly end of Oldham Street, the event promises 30 stalls of free vegan food and other goods, plus vegan speed dating, and a screening of Forks Over Knives, a 2011 documentary that advocates a low-fat whole foods, plant-based diet as a means of combating a number of diseases. The diverse range of stall-holders to be announced so far include Falafest, Gan Lay-Kuan Oriental mock meats, Unicorn, Glossop People’s Kitchen, Naked Vegan Cooking, My Cupcakes and Save the Harlan Beagles. The fair is part of Manchester Vegan Week, which runs from Sunday 27 October and also features a beer festival at the Thirsty Scholar (Sun 27 Oct, 12pm – 12am), a chocolate and ice cream festival at V Revolution (Mon 28 Oct, 7pm – 10pm) and Manchester Vegan Society’s World Vegan Day Party at the Thirsty Scholar (Sun 3 Nov, 4pm – 12am).
