With International Women’s Day on the horizon (Fri 8 Mar), Manchester Women’s Institute (WI) is gearing up for the main event with its latest meeting, tonight at Chetham’s School of Music. International Women’s Day award-winning artist Charlotte Newson will be joining the group to discuss the motivation and inspiration behind her work, including Women Like You (pictured) – the first contemporary artwork to celebrate Emmeline Pankhurst, created for the 80th anniversary of women gaining the vote. This month’s meeting will also feature a performance by She Choir, an inclusive and un-auditioned women’s voice choir who sing their own arrangements of contemporary and diverse songs. Plans for Manchester WI’s participation in International Women’s Day will be announced at the meeting too.
