Matthew Bourne’s Sleeping Beauty reawakens the classic fairytale at the Lowry

Celebrating 10 years since its premiere at Sadlers Wells, when it became the fastest-selling production in New Adventures’ history, Matthew Bourne’s award-winning Sleeping Beauty returns to the Lowry from Tue 22 Nov – Sat 26 Nov in a joyous flurry of enchanting set design, exquisite dancing and a delightful Tchaikovsky score.

Having cemented itself as a firm favourite within the New Adventures repertoire, Bourne’s sparkling reimagination of the beloved gothic romance features masterful storytelling, hauntingly beautiful use of lighting and effects and gorgeous costumes set to one of Tchaikovsky’s most famous ballet compositions.

Following the story of Princess Aurora and her search for her true love amidst a ‘wondrous world of magical fairies and vampires’ where ‘good vs. evil is turned upside-down’, Bourne’s Sleeping Beauty promises to transport the audience ‘from the halcyon days of the late Edwardian era to the modern day’ in a dazzling performance.
