It’s July. It’s definitely summer now, isn’t it? Still in the midst of festival season, there’s tonnes of gigs going on in and around the city. So, we’ve prepared a little mixed bag playlist of local talent who you can catch playing this month! From up-and-coming acts to Manc legends – music to please your ears and move your feet. Sounds of the City at Castlefield Bowl (6-12 Jul) sees Bury lads Elbow play, plus the nostalgic sounds of Hacienda Classical taking dance heritage and colliding it with the world of classical music. Blackthorn Festival (19-21 Jul) has a bumper line-up of acts including Satyr Play, Y.O.U.N.G, Freeda, Jess Kemp, Scarlet Fever, Attic Doctors, Afghan Sand Gang, Hey Bulldog plus so many more. Other events to check out are the Pumpkin Levy Punk Weekender (13-14 Jul) and R-Fest (1-7 Jul) which sees 100 bands play over 2 stages in 7 days at Retro Bar including The Zangwillis, Bethlehem Casuals, and Rook & The Ravens. Our playlist is also peppered with various local gigs from venues Deaf Institute and the Castle, to Gullivers, YES and Jimmys. There’s a little something for everyone. Hit play below to give this month’s playlist a listen, check out the bands and get yourselves down to a gig (or two).
In a local band, got a Manchester show on the horizon or think you should feature in one of our upcoming playlists? Drop us a line. Meanwhile, be sure to follow our Spotify page so you never miss a playlist.
