On Tue 16 Apr, celebrated South Asian dancers Aakash Odedra and Aditi Mangaldas present a wondrously profound and uplifting exploration of human desire, courage and resilience with new show Mehek at The Lowry.

Centred around the intricate, stirring relationship between a mature woman and a younger man, Mehek unfurls along universally resonant rhythms of irrepressible romance, interspersed with ‘elements of nature’ – mirrors glimmer like a calm sea as a symbol of the duality of their dynamic, hiding the tempest lying beneath, as the dancers bare their character to one another and redefine the essence of love together.

As the stage becomes an immersive canvas upon which the dancers map a breathtaking visual narrative, the performance examines love both as personal journey and deep, interdependent connection; ‘Mehek’ stems from the Hindi word for fragrance, referring to the longevity of memory and love’s unique, raw and endlessly relatable intoxication.
