Award-winning independent literary publisher Penned in the Margins presents a night of new cutting-edge modern poetry from three of the UK’s most exciting voices on Thursday (5 Dec). Melissa Lee-Houghton, Hannah Silva (pictured) and Siddartha Bose all have new collections, and will be reading passages from their respective works in the Engine House of the Anthony Burgess Foundation. Houghton will be releasing her second book of poetry entitled Beautiful Girls, a raw and emotional account of mental illness that has been awarded a PBS Recommendation. Hannah Silva has been widely acclaimed for her reading style just as much as for her beautiful prose. Innovative vocal performances have stood her apart from other spoken word artists. Her debut collection, Forms of Protest, deconstructs the defunct languages of political and literary discourse, claiming a new space, a liminal zone between things as they sound. Siddhartha Bose is also releasing his second book, Digital Monsoon, a dreamscape of an apocalyptic London. His rhythmic style has been likened to free-form jazz. The bar will be open throughout the event, and all three artists will be available for book signing after their performances.
