With many Manchester organisations switching up their offering to cater for their new housebound audiences, we’ve become spoiled for choice when it comes to must-watch performances from festivals past. In addition to hosting weekly screenings of discussions, talks and workshops over on their website (head here for a list of what’s on this week), Manchester International Festival continues to revisit shows from its archive this Friday at 8pm with an airing of Re:Creating Europe, a star-studded performance captured during 2019’s event and helmed by theatre director Ivo van Hove. Accompanied by a brand new video introduction recorded by poet and author Michael Morpurgo specifically for the occasion, this story weaves together a selection of words from artists, creatives and political thinkers which explore the essence of Europe and features a cast that boasts Christopher Eccleston, Lemn Sissay, Juliet Stevenson, Adjoa Andoh and more. The event follows their previous MIF Live streaming session which saw the festival share New Order’s So It Goes… with visual artist Liam Gillick. To watch this event, visit their website on Friday evening.
