While you can’t always get tickets to the shows you want or may not be available at the times that the free events are on, pretty much anyone who pops into town over the course of a Manchester International Festival season ends up at Festival Square. The beating heart of the fortnight, DJs and shows (in the Pavilion Theatre) are scheduled – though the majority of the fun there will be impromptu . Though the Square doesn’t open until 5 July – the first full day of the festival – MIF is having a test run, opening for food and drink on 3 July, serving between 12.30pm and 2.30pm, and 5.30pm and 8.30pm. Perhaps the perfect way to start a fortnight of premieres and exclusives.
