Manchester Literature Festival keeps the events coming outside of its usual October slot – this time teaming up with Granta to bring another heavyweight name from across the pond. Jenny Offill will be discussing her new novel, Dept. Of Speculation, shortlisted for the 2015 Folio Prize, with MLF’s ubiquitous and engaging Kate Feld. The festival has continued to bring some of the best and brightest from around the world, even when not running its annual event. This event is no different, with Offill’s novel being described as ‘a heartbreaking and exceptional book by a writer who doesn’t settle for less’ – plus ‘short and funny and absorbing’ by the New York Review of Books. As a lecturer on the Columbia University MFA programme, as well as an engaging author to spend an evening with, there will be plenty to hear from Offill – expect creative writing students to hog the Q&A.
