Death: it happens every second of every day, yet most people still aren’t really comfortable with facing it, dealing with it or discussing it. This new exhibition at MMU’s Holden Gallery looks to change that, bringing together seven artists who don’t simply see the end of life as a blunt finish line – but rather viewing it through different prisms, approaching the differing degrees and types of death. Douglad Gordon, in particular, takes a look at death from a scientific point of view, showing the changing opinions over the eras as to where they line between life and the afterlife truly lays. Also exhibiting will be Felix Gonzalez-Torres, Douglas Gordon, Julian Opie, Cornelia Parker, Bob and Roberta Smith and Sam Taylor Wood. This exhibition is a joint curating between The Holden Gallery’s Steven Gartside and Clive Parkinson, director of Arts for Health at MMU.
