Quickly becoming one of Manchester’s best musical exports from recent years, hip hop production crew The Mouse Outfit possess a masterful blend of funk, rap and jazz. First brought together by founding members Chini and Defty in South Manchester ten years ago, the group refined their sound as a live band during hip-hop open mic nights, quickly developing into a fully formed musical cohort and unleashing debut album ‘Escape Music’ in 2013. Finding a wider audience further afield from Manchester soon after, the group are now considered one of the finest hip hop acts on the live circuit. This year, for the third studio album ‘Jagged Tooth Crook’, the band have pushed the boat out and joined forces with a team of 29 musicians, vocalists and producers, including Blue Note’s Ashley Henry and the Cinematic Orchestra’s Sam Vicary. Demonstrating a big step forward in their career, the album’s lead single ‘I Wonder’ has quickly clocked up over 1 million views on YouTube.
