He’s conquered the world of music, and of tea, so now he’s making in roads on something else. Taking time off from his hectic schedule of sipping brews and spinning wax for big money, Mr Scruff will be spending Saturday 15 June headlining Raw Fest at Jackson’s Boat in Chorlton. Largely focused on emerging talent in the area, the all-day event is being run in conjunction with those cads down at Band on the Wall, in aid of their foundation (which helps provide sustainable musical education for communities facing social challenges), and Backstage Academy CIC (which funds education programmes for disadvantages groups). They promise bands through the day – with acts like The Chanteuse & The Crippled Claw and Black Light among the many confirmed – and DJs spinning well into the night with – and I quote – ‘astonishing acts and magical surprises’ throughout, with both an indoor stage and a more acoustic marquee outside. Splendid.
