In light of current events, the Imperial War Museum North is aiming to bring its content right into people’s homes, with a plethora of all things digital. Adventures in History is a video series where viewers will be introduced to the personal stories of those caught up in conflict. A new video will be uploaded to their official website every Wednesday. To complement these, there will be a selection of Family Missions which boast fun challenges, games, and activities. Every Friday at 11am, a ‘mission briefing’ will be shared on Facebook and Twitter, encouraging people to get hands-on and put their learning to the test. Virtual Tours will let you explore Museum spaces and historic sites without ever leaving your sofa. The Cabinet War Rooms, the secret underground HQ where Churchill and his team toiled during World War II, are ready to be explored and coming soon is a tour of IWM Duxford, where you can view the biggest collection of American military aircraft outside of the USA. Also, curators and other experts will be engaging on the social media pages mentioned above, plus Instagram, to discuss their favourite historical items. Meanwhile on YouTube, audiences can go behind-the-scenes to learn more about IWM exhibitions.
