Jodrell Bank has announced its plans to celebrate the summer solstice next month
Happening on Sat 21 Jun, The Longest Light (6pm – 9.30pm) is a special after-hours celebration that brings the sights and sounds of summer to the home of radio astronomy.
Enjoy a powerful fusion of drums, dance, and hands-on workshops with world-renowned Afrobeat musician, Sens Sagna, and unwind with thought-provoking discussions on humanity’s relationship to the Sun with Professor Philippa Browning.
There will also be a brand-new film screening of The Sun, Our Living Star in Jodrell’s immersive Space Dome, cyanotype crafting workshops and even the option to book a pre-event dinner.
Whilst this ticketed evening event is recommended for audiences 14+, there is also an action-packed programme for families visiting during the daytime.
The solstice festivities will include a sun-themed science show, carnival beats with Global Grooves, solar observing and the Meridian Line Moment (weather dependent), all of which are included in general admission tickets.
