I Would Like to Join a Club and Hit Myself with It is a show that places the work of up-and-coming artists alongside established talents. Occurring simultaneously with Ryan Gander’s major solo exhibition, Make Every Show Like it’s Your Last, at Manchester Art Gallery (see preview), Gander’s innovative work Porthole to Culturefield Revisited (pictured, 2010) will be shown at Castlefield alongside emerging North West artists, including Robert Carter, Helen Collett, Monty, Lois Macdonald and Joe Fletcher Orr. From a neurological examination of flies to the trade surrounding fine wines, this exhibition promises to rally together the combined creative impulse of artists within the innovative context of Castlefield Gallery, continuing the dialogue of contemporary art between Manchester-based institutions.
