Jacob Cartwright, a Manchester based mixed-media artist, will showcase a trilogy of films and a selection of paintings, which divert our perception of the natural environment. Angel Shades (2014) is an observation film centered upon the English countryside over the course of a Summer. In a compilation of clips, Cartwright takes a unique look at the natural landscape, accompanying his images with fragmented recordings, and real-time conversation. Alongside the premier of this film, No Passage Landward (2014), and Kaskaskia (2013) will also feature, both of which take on a inquisitive, slightly humorous stance on the contemplation of nature and life. In a culmination of media and painting, this exhibition will also feature a series of new paintings, completed from film stills, and articulated through ink and watercolour, to reinvent and further explore his cinematic representations.
