A number of artists, educators, and makers have come together to form Salford Makers, a group offering creative workshops for other artists and the public alike. Beginning in early October, they will be running a diverse programme of events from their venue in the creative hub that is Islington Mill. This former club space has been converted into a studio which will house established local artists, including textile specialists, a clothing label, a photographer, and a jeweller. The first phase of Salford Makers workshops are now available to book online. From screen printing to jewellery making and garment construction, there are options to suit many tastes, with more to follow in the coming weeks. There’s also a free printing party in late October – as part of Design Manchester Festival – and a weekend of taster workshops. The main programme is listed on the website, below.
