Fresh from a comprehensive £10m overhaul, New Century, Manchester’s latest live music venue and ‘social destination’, is hosting a free family fun festival from 12-6pm on Sat 24 Sep. Taking place across the entire New Century space, including the gorgeous events hall and Sadler’s Yard, the festival features everything from bouncy castles and nature workshops to live wrestling and acid brass music.

Known as ‘family rock ‘n’ roll party specialists’, Born To Be Wild Child are onsite from 12-2pm, taking over the events hall with a dizzying assemblage of immersive entertainment including crafts, colouring, a giant mural, family-friendly DJs, a giant mural, face-painting and more. Alongside them, and throughout the day, kids can enjoy a bouncy castle, giant inflatable games, slides and a ‘mini-performance’ by FutureShock wrestlers, who will return to New Century for a full length show on 2 Oct.

Performing in Sadler’s Yard, Williams Fairey Brass Band host a fusion extravaganza in collaboration with Turner Prize-winning artist Jeremy Deller, featuring an unlikely but immensely exciting blend of acid house, traditional brass and Detroit techno.

While The Locus Gang and Easy Peel kids’ clubs put on nature workshops in the yard – with free ice cream for the first 25 in attendance on the day – the New Century kitchens and bar will be in full swing, offering pizza, sushi and more to guests throughout the festival.
