Manchester’s  love affair with its musical past is met with a fresh pair of eyes for Brian Gorman’s play New Dawn Fades, which recounts the days of the city during Joy Division’s ascension and tragic demise. Directed by Neil Bell, the play was a big hit at last year’s inaugural Greater Manchester Fringe Festival before moving on to Macclesfield’s Winterfest and wowing audiences and critics alike there too. A one-off performance organised due to popular demand, this sure-fire sell-out warmly captures the sense of the time and place it portrays. New Dawn Fades is a paean to the honesty of the scene and one of the world’s most iconic bands that called Manchester their home.
