Manchester will gain a new event space when interior designers Wallpaper* Composed take over the London Road Fire Station. Their project The House of London Road takes its inspiration from utilitarian design and the simple pleasures of life. It will comprise three fashionable new areas in the Grade II listed building: a working-living space, a bar room, and a silent cinema in the Coroner’s Court near the main doors. The project launches with a private exhibition viewing on Thursday 13 July, and over the next year the venue will be opened for public performances and exhibitions. The Wallpaper* Composed residency marks the end of decades of decline. As part of a multi-million pound refurbishment, London Road Fire Station will eventually be transformed into a hotel, eateries and offices.
