A very quirky outdoor arts events is taking place one evening in mid-July. The first of its kind in Manchester, Art in the Alley will be held in a once neglected ginnel in Burnage which has been transformed into a community garden. Nine local artists of various varieties will be showcasing their work for you to buy or simply admire. Contributors include Sasha Ray, who specialises in colourful photomontages of cityscapes; custom jewellery designer Melanie Page; and Mervyn Tay, who is known for his humorous paintings featuring sheep. A percentage of profits from sales will go to Burnage Food Bank and 42nd Street, both of which support young people struggling with mental health problems through the use of art therapy workshops.
