New CGI images of Stockport’s upcoming Weir Mill development have been shared.
Set to be integrated with the town’s iconic railway viaduct, ‘Weaver’s Square’ will play host to live music, street food pop-ups, parties and al fresco dining areas.
Headed up by Capital&Centric, alongside Stockport Council and Stockport Mayoral Development Corporation (MDC), the new neighbourhood, set to be completed next spring, has transformed a Grade-II listed mill into 253 homes.

The new square will feature a range of independent food and drink options, with 10 new bars, restaurants and cafés. 65,000 sqft of outdoor space will include planted areas, a riverside terrace and a central courtyard.
Cllr Micheala Meikle, Stockport Council cabinet member for economy, skills and regeneration: “Our town centre regeneration is about more than building new homes, it’s about creating vibrant neighbourhoods and breathing new life into Stockport’s heritage, giving our historic buildings a future.
“While the Grade-II listed former mill is being carefully restored for residents, the new public square will create opportunities for independent businesses to thrive and for people from across the borough to come and enjoy our buzzing town centre.
“It’s incredibly exciting to see how our riverside will soon be opened up into an inviting outdoor space where communities can come together over great food, live music, and creative events from day to night.”

John Moffat, joint managing director at Capital&Centric: “Weir Mill isn’t your bog-standard development. Whether it’s live music under the iconic viaduct arches, grabbing food with mates or stumbling across the latest pop-up, it’s the kind of neighbourhood that feels buzzing, alive and full of character. With the first food and drink operators set to be announced soon, it’s about to get really exciting.”
The development team are still on the lookout for indie businesses to occupy Weir Mill, and has encouraged anyone interested in being involved to email spaces@capitalandcentric.com.
