Northern Quarter bar Gullivers has reopened after an overhaul. The bar has been closed for the past three weeks while a complete refurbishment has been taking place. Improvements include a huge new bar and improved seating, including booths along the right side of the bar as you walk in – plus a cool Castle Hotel-style snug towards the back of the pub, which has been converted into a new room. Let’s hope their excellent jukebox survived the transformation. Gullivers was until recently a traditional pub, but was taken over by the landlords of The Castle Hotel (just across the road), The Parlour and Salford’s Eagle Inn. Since then, the bar has been attracting a younger crowd, partly due to the upstairs room which has been the venue for concerts, plays and spoken word nights. Events resume this Sunday with a gig by Swedish rockers Mother of God. Starting Monday, there will be a week-long run of an innovative new adaptation of Othello.
