A new ‘speakeasy’ bar, The Fitzgerald, will open next month off Stevenson Square, in the back alleyway across from Kraak. From the team behind Rosylee Tea Rooms, Tusk and Hula bar, the bar will launch on 21 and 22 February, following a short soft opening back in November of last year, before being open on and off until the end of the year between private hire bookings. Named after F Scott Fitzgerald, naturally the bar will be decked out in Gatsby-style 1920s furniture, while drinks and snacks – including cocktails complete with candy floss garnish and soft pretzels with mustard – will be served by staff in waistcoats and flapper dresses. The Fitzgerald will also offer bottle servings of Beluga Vodka, Brockman’s Gin and Appleton Estate, each accompanied by a mini masterclass with your own personal bartender. With future plans for events including live jazz jam sessions, wine and spirits tasting and classic film nights, The Fitzgerald looks set to be the place to be for chic, jazz-age vibes.
