Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s The Hound of the Baskervilles is a classic novel which sees Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson travel to Dartmoor to investigate a strange death seemingly caused by a mysterious beast. The book has been adapted many, many times, but a new stage production, starting later this month, brings something new to the table. Local theatre company Northern Rep are presenting a fast-paced, comedic take on this old story. Throughout a two-hour-long performance, all the parts will be played by just two actors. The venue is somewhat unusual, also. Called ‘The Reading Room’, it is a newly-built space hidden away in the Great Northern Warehouse that’s home to Manchester’s newest theatre company. It’s a fairly intimate theatre with just 30 seats, but worry not: the play runs six days a week until September, so there should be ample chance to get tickets.
