Literature night Bad Language is hosting a bumper live show at Manchester Museum this week. Star turns are Jenn Ashworth and Helen Mort. Mort won the Manchester Young Writer Prize in 2008 while in 2010, she became the youngest ever poet in residence at The Wordsworth Trust. Ashworth (pictured) was featured as a novelist to watch on the BBC’s Culture Show. Her first novel, A Kind of Intimacy, won a Betty Trask Award in 2010. For this event, they’ll be showcasing specially commissioned work alongside emerging writers John Leyland, Nija Dalal, Anneliese Mackintosh, Emma Lannie and Alex Keelan. Manchester Museum’s Living Worlds Gallery was redesigned last year by Villa Eugenie, a company best known for producing fashion shows for Dior and Chanel. With taxidermy, floating neon signs and origami bringing exhibits to vibrant life, we can’t think of a better spot to hear the region’s finest.
