News: Multi-use arts space The Vale launches in Mossley in September with an action-packed opening weekend

The Vale in Mossley is reopening, following a £1million refurbishment to transform this 150-year-old building into a fantastic new accessible multi-purpose arts centre for Tameside and the Northern Carnival Centre of Excellence. To celebrate, they’re holding an official launch weekend on Friday 10 Sep to  Sunday 12 Sep, with a jam-packed weekend of live programming and participatory events, with live music including Mr Wilson’s Second Liners and Honeyfeet and they want you to be there!

The Vale’s refurbishment will see the former textile mill  become the only professional multi-arts venue in Tameside. From these world class facilities, Global Grooves will host a Carnival inspired programme of live music, dance and performance, making the most of the new dedicated live-music space and theatre.

Alongside its programme of live performance, The Vale will continue to offer a range of community events, cinema screenings and training programmes.

In 2018 Global Grooves – an enterprise that brings people together to learn, share and collaborate through music, dance and visual arts –  were awarded Arts Council capital funding to develop The Vale and create the Northern Carnival Centre of Excellence. Following a further match fundraising campaign and an intensive building and refurbishment project, The Vale is now ready to open its doors. The new venue means that Global Grooves, working alongside their partners, can now develop even more ambitious Carnival productions, train new and emerging Carnival artists and host masterclasses with international experts and cultural leaders.
