This February, HOME will be hosting the North West premiere of the film Icarus at the Edge of Time. Directed by acclaimed filmmakers AL and AL, this is a futuristic reimagining of the classic Greek myth. The story centres a young boy who foolishly challenges the awesome power of a black hole. It is based on a book by the world renowned theoretical physicist Brian Greene, who will be providing narration on the night. The score, which was written by none other than Philip Glass, will be performed live by the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra. There will also be a screening of Georges Méliès’ influential sci-fi short film Le Voyage dans la lune (1902), complete with a new piano score. This event is part of Incidents of Travel in the Multiverse, a major new exhibition of AL and AL’s work, which will be held at HOME’s galleries from February until April.
