This year marks the second outing for the Northern Lights Writers’ Conference. The day-long event has this time invited a very special guest to deliver the keynote speech: author and broadcaster Will Self (pictured), known for The Book of Dave and his articles in the Guardian and the New Statesman. The focus of this year’s conference is ‘making writing pay’ and it will feature talks, workshops and panel discussions with award-winning writers, acclaimed publishers and literary agents. Orange Award for New Writers winner Joanna Kavenna and Canal Laureate Jo Bell talk about making a living from what you write, while author David Gaffney imparts advice on fundraising, and Louise Rhind-Tutt from LRT Publicity dishes out the secrets on marketing. This event that is brought to you by Creative Industries Trafford and Manchester Literature Festival, with Chris Hamilton-Emery describing last year’s debut as a ‘brilliant writers’ conference’. Do you need any more convincing?
