Life-sized stencils by street artist Stewy will be exhibited at The Great Northern for five days this week. Stewy’s distinctive stencils – featuring portraits of British artists, punk poets and other British icons – can be found across the UK and have sparked interest from galleries worldwide. During this free exhibition, audiences can discover what the illusive street artist is all about as he presents his new show Northern Souls. There will be limited prints to purchase and an auction of prints of ‘Mr Manchester’, aka Tony Wilson, which will be created live by Stewy. Only 50 originals will be available and the artwork will be signed by members of Factory Records, with all proceeds going to Christie’s Charitable Fund. All other sales will go towards funding free arts education workshops with Future Artist Live Creative Co-op in 2014. The show launches with a preview party on Tuesday 3 December from 6.30pm. For a private viewing of the work available email info@futureartists.co.uk.
