The Modernist Society has long been a force for good in the Manchester design community and now thanks to a very successful crowdfunding campaign they have been able to open their own ‘small but perfectly formed’ shop on Port Street. Currently showcasing a comprehensive exhibition chronicling some of the projects they have undertaken over the past ten years, they also stock a selection of handpicked homewares and books. They are the exclusive stockists of iconic cutlery designer David Mellor’s home and tableware as well as the funky Dutch brand Mepal and their bowls, plates, lunch boxes and more. The book selection covers all sorts of Modernist architecture and design (of course), alongside some of their own products such as magazines, badges, tote bags and t-shirts.

Now open, Modernist HQ, 58 Port Street, Manchester, M1 2EQ. Wed-Sat 11am-5pm, www.facebook.com
