Chorlton’s Oddest bar has it going on this May Bank Holiday weekend. There is so much stuff happening that we’ve had to issue a day by day break down, just to give you a chance to digest what’s coming your way. On Friday (1 May), there’s 50% off food when you order an alcoholic drink or a bottle of Fentimans all day, plus 50% off the new cocktail menu between 5 and 7pm. From 9pm till 1.30am, So Flute’s Danuka gets behind the decks. See our full preview here. But in short, if you like the world-wide eclecticism of Gilles Peterson, you’ll love this (9pm-1.30am). There’s more dancing to be had on Saturday (2 May) with the funk-powered legend, Jimmy Nolan, playing his resident DJ set (9pm- 1.30am, free entry & late bar), while Sunday (3 May) keeps the vibe popping off. Stu from hiphop collective Taste The Diff’rence will make your Bank Holiday head spin with his exceptional selections. Expect the best hiphop across the board with one of Manchester’s top DJs (9pm-1.30am, free). For those in recovery or who simply have been saving themselves for the big day of rest, Monday (4 May) has the perfect cure in the shape of a Vinyl Appreciation All-Dayer (3pm-9pm, free) where you get to be the DJ – with a bit of guidance from the residents.
Fri 1 – Mon 4 May, Oddest Bar, 414-416 Wilbraham Road, Chorlton, Manchester, M21 0SD. Tel: 0161 860 7515, times and prices vary, www.oddestbar.co.uk
