Oldham’s brand-new food hall, The Egyptian Room, opens to the public this Friday at 7.30pm.
Set within the historic Old Town Hall, the Grade II listed venue has been transformed into an open-plan dining space with seating for more than 200 people.
The venue will offer both indoor and outdoor seating, as well as a new mezzanine area. The team have carefully preserved the historic character and original features of The Egyptian Room, showcasing its original decorative glazed wall, column tiling, parquet and terrazzo flooring and arched windows and doors.
Visitors will be able to choose between a selection of food stalls, including Ply Loves Pizza, Wings of Power and Tuk Tuk. There’ll also be a well-stocked bar and live music every weekend.
Cllr Arooj Shah, Leader of Oldham Council, said: “We can’t wait for The Egyptian Room to open with one of the most exciting new eating and leisure offers anywhere in Greater Manchester.
“The new modern food hall complements and showcases the building’s stunning Victorian architecture, making it a true one-of-a-kind venue. It’s a great attraction to bring local people and visitors into the town centre, especially in the evenings, and will not only boost our local economy but also create jobs for residents.”
“This is another piece of the jigsaw bringing our regeneration of the town centre to life.”
