Sir Ian McKellen has decided to celebrate his 80th birthday with a national tour, raising money to support British theatre on route. His one-man show is a fun montage of various monologues, scenes and comedy sketches. Gandalf will be making an appearance along with some Shakespearean classics, and apparently the performance will end with an invitation for the audience to join him on stage! Sir Ian is an iconic actor, national treasure and lover of live theatre. He simply wants to give something back, and as a proud northerner claims he is excited to return to Manchester, where he saw his first professional production (Peter Pan at The Palace Theatre). All the money he raises for Home will go towards their initiatives with local communities, such as the inspire £1 ticket scheme, providing subsidised tickets to people who otherwise might not be able to attend the theatre. This performance is bound to be hilarious, witty and charming; a masterclass with the master himself.
