With local and national theatres hit hardest by the day-to-day impact of COVID-19, many have tweaked their service to make productions and plays available to view online from home. Huddersfield’s Lawrence Batley Theatre aims to take these socially distanced theatre experiences to new, immersive levels with special performances of Nigel Slater’s West End hit Toast. Part radio play, part visual feast, this touching story chronicles Slater’s childhood via a variety of tastes and smells that he shares with his mother. From making the perfect sherry trifle to engaging in a domestic war over cakes – this popular show spans love and loss and invites viewers to experience it at home with a few immersive add-ons. By booking a viewing date and time, audiences will also receive a programme, a recipe card allowing you to cook dishes to enjoy during your performance and two Walnut Whips. Simply head to the Lawrence Batley Theatre website to book your performance.
