In 2017 some 7,000 people came down to The Lowry, the Salford Quays based theatre, arts space and eaterie for their massive open day – and they’re opening their doors once more for a day of free activities for all ages in 2018. Workshops throughout the day include drop in drawing sessions, cupcake decoration, creating your own comic book and acting improvisation classes whilst the Pier 8 restaurant and bar will host DJs playing music throughout the day. Renowned companies Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures and Rambert will be offering more hands on performance related workshops and there will also be backstage tours and even short classes in lighting and sound for those keen to find out how stage magic is made. The fun spills out on to the plaza outside too as visitors will be able to watch live open air performances from elite street circus performers D & F Bros. Grand Indian Circus, play large outdoor games, join in dance activities and enjoy a colourful street piano. All activities are free but you can book some in advance online to be sure of a spot. Free tickets are available online from Monday 6 August –
