The list of great young food ventures setting up home in Ancoats just keeps on growing, with Pollen and Cask both announcing a move to Cotton Field Wharf later in the spring. Joining the likes of Sugo and The Hip Hop Chip Shop in choosing Manchester’s ‘Little Italy’ as their new home, the growing number of exciting new openings is fast establishing the area North of the city centre as a soon to be foody destination. Pollen Bakery will leave behind their railway arch home to bigger and better premises where they can expand production of their signature 28 hour sour – a sourdough loaf that has seen Pollen voted one of the top 20 bakeries in the UK – and their morning pastries including the in-demand cruffin, so good there’s a queue around the block for it. Castlefield favourite Cask will be opening a second shop bringing their carefully curated selection of craft ales and huge range of international bottled beers to the Ancoats crowd. And boy are they in for a treat with such an inimitable choice of brews and Cask’s talent for creating a low-key welcoming neighbourhood space.

Both opening spring 2018. Cotton Field Wharf, New Union Street, Manchester, M4. www.mcrlife.co.uk
