Opera North make their welcome return to The Lowry in the coming weeks, bringing a handful of sure-to-be stunning productions to the Salford stage.

On Tue 7 & Wed 8 Mar the Leeds-based company will perform bittersweet fairy tale The Cunning Little Vixen, transporting audiences through the forest, following the enchanting tale of Vixen Sharp Ears. An emotional journey which reflects on the nature of life and death, and the connection between the human and animal worlds, this celebrated classic calls on Janácek’s energetic folk-infused melodies with Sir David Pountney returning on director duties.

On Fri 10 Mar, Ariadne Auf Naxos explores the dramatic, humorous story of when two films, one a heartbreaking myth, the other a light musical comedy, are forced to become one. Featuring some of Strauss’ greatest work, and with multi-award nominated Rodula Gaitanou directing, this promises to be spectacular.

Opera North will also tackle thrilling crime drama, Tosca, with two performances on Thu 9 Mar & Sat 11 Mar. Love, blackmail, revenge and murder all play out in sublime and often gut-wrenching fashion in this iconic production , which portrays humanity at its best and very worst.
