You can’t throw a small air-filled celluloid ball without hitting a ping pong reflated event these days. Wiff waff is back – and nowhere more so than at Islington Mill. Following a couple of nights featuring Kraak’s Ping Pong Club, Baptists & Bootleggers are attempting to make table tennis even more of a focal point for the night. Taking inspiration from the ‘Noisy Table’ at Liverpool’s FACT, B & B will celebrate their first birthday by hooking contact mics on the table to various guitar pedals, synths and other musical devices to take on their friends in a battle of bats and beats. So far confirmed ties include MCR Wire favourites Gnod vs Volkov Commanders and the birthday kids vs Textbook. DJs will be provided by Ping Pong Club throughout the night, and tensions will be high as Manchester’s creative types pit their sporting and musical ability against one another. Not to be missed.
