A new exhibition at the National Football Museum presents an amalgamation of technology, football, and culture. Far from being confined to the pitch, Out of Play is a creative investigation into the influence of new technologies on the game. Included in the exhibition will be: a robot that plays football, a ball that generates electricity, humorous ‘remixes’ of footballer El Hadj Diouf being fouled on the pitch, and a creative interpretation of Twitter images posted about the World Cup. Artists, designers, fans, scientists, and curators are brought together for an interactive, fun, and unique display of work that promises to break the traditional conventions of football.
