After a highly successful event last year, the Oxjam Manchester Takeover returns in early October at several venues in the Northern Quarter. Showcasing over 100 music artists over a weekend, this volunteer-led festival aims to raise funds for Oxfam. Local indie band The Colours are headlining The Bay Horse on Saturday, and acclaimed singer-songwriter Leo Stannard headlines Gullivers on Sunday. Other acts of note include: Shauna Mackin, Clockwork Radio, Mary Joanna & The Southern Electrikk, Twin Hidden, and Hot Vestry. Wristbands are required and can be exchanged at Cord Bar. On the Sunday there will also be a market fair on Tariff Street with vintage and craft traders, street salsa classes, art workshops, a live art installation and a performance from all female African drum group, Wangari.

Sat 4 – Sun 5 Oct, The Bay Horse, Wood, Cord Bar, Gullivers, Castle Hotel, Kosmonaut, Whiskey Jar, and El Capo. Weekend tickets: £10 Weekend (adv.) £15 (on the day), www.wegottickets.com
