On Thu 29 May, cult Ancoats bookstore P3 Annihilation Eve (formerly O! Peste Destroyed) welcomes self-proclaimed ‘rock evangelist’ David Keenan for a night of ‘sincerely manic idealism’ featuring a Q&A led by filmmaker and author Austin Collings.

Simultaneously dazzling and broodingly contemplative, Keenan showcases his singular literary verve with his latest anthological tempest, VOLCANIC TONGUE: A TIME-TRAVELLING EVANGELIST’S GUIDE TO LATE 20th CENTURY UNDERGROUND MUSIC, formed of extended reviews, long-form think pieces and candid, coruscating features from his time as a contributor to The Wire magazine from the mid-1990s to 2015.

On the night, Austin Collings interviews the subculture savant – who returns to P3 Annihilation Eve for the first time since the day the Queen died – charting his captivating life and multi-faceted work, followed by a set of molten underground sounds curated by Keenan himself.

Entry is free, while a link to pre-purchase Keenan’s book with a seat reservation is forthcoming.
