The acclaimed Irish painter Paraic Leahy has a new solo exhibition on now at PAPER, the artist-led, commercial gallery close to Manchester Victoria Station. The show, titled ‘The Nothing Unfurling Under Her Gaze’, showcases Paraic’s highly-detailed paintings which are rooted in nostalgia and have their own twisted logic. He draws inspiration from Victorian writers, theorists, and psychoanalysts for his pieces, exploring themes of incompleteness, isolation, social order, and the notions of ‘beauty and the absurd’. Paraic has exhibited at several group shows at PAPER, as well as collaborative projects with galleries in Los Angeles, Basel, and Valencia. He has also presented many solo exhibitions all around his home country. In the gallery’s test space, there will also be a separate solo show, ‘Polychrome’ – which is the first from University of Salford graduate Daniel Wiltshire.

Saturdays until 22 Sep, PAPER Gallery, 14-20 Mirabel Street, Manchester, M3 1PJ, Tel: 07799 813062, 11am – 5pm, FREE entry, www.paper-gallery.co.uk
