Declining Solo is a new performance by Two Destination Language about a woman returning to visit her family home, and missing the one thing she values most: her father. Memories of her upbringing are expressed through text, choreography, home video and a specially commissioned score that takes its cue from Bulgarian folk. At the core of the performance are two relationships: father and daughter, and person and culture, while stories of communism, war, merriment and family are explored as she shapes a world from paper (there are even sheets dropping from the ceiling) and projection. The piece is brought to the Lowry by performance duo, Two Destination Language, and is presented by acclaimed company, Word of Warning. The show is also the lead production in a new strand called ‘WTF Wednesdays’. This is a series of evening events at the Lowry celebrating the best in contemporary theatre. Plus, it’s a Pay a What You Decide show, so, having reserved your tickets and seen the show, simply decide how much you want to pay afterwards.
